Homemade Italian Gnocchi with Giuseppe and Nicoletta
Your chef-instructors, Guiseppe Tagliareni and Chef-Manager Nicoletta Guzzi, will introduce and demonstrate how to prepare homemade Italian Gnocchi with two types of sauces, a tomato sauce and a pesto sauce. The class also includes an appetizer to go with the meal.

Join Chef Giuseppe Tagliareni and Chef Nicoletta Guzzi, a dynamic duo with over 40 years of experience in Italian cuisine and hospitality. As a family business, their passion for authentic Italian food runs deep. Rooted in generations of tradition, refined through decades of experience, and now shared with food lovers in Halifax.
Before moving to Canada, they owned and operated a successful hotel and restaurant in Italy for 35 years, mastering every aspect of Italian hospitality. They know firsthand how food brings people together and how a simple meal can make people happy and create lasting memories. They love to share Mediterranean ingredients that are healthy and varied, that’s why their dishes are so tasty!
Their expertise lies in fresh pasta making and traditional recipes from both Northern and Southern Italy—from the sun-drenched flavours of Sicily to the delicate handmade pastas of Liguria and Lombardia. This rich culinary heritage inspired them to launch Original Italy Catering after relocating to Canada 10 years ago.
The overwhelming love for their food led them to open aPria Café & Deli, a beloved spot in downtown Halifax at 2444 Agricola St. (The name aPria comes from their hometown in Italy, Pietra Ligure, but in dialect language, because origin and tradition are the fundamentals of our cuisine! )
Now, Giuseppe e Nicoletta, are excited to invite you to share the art of homemade Italian gnocchi making at the Italian Canadian Cultural Association in Halifax NS. This class is an immersive, hands-on experience where you’ll learn to make authentic gnocchi just like in an Italian home.
