WINTER 2025 CLASS TIMES AND LOCATIONS

Italian language classes for adults in the winter are all held via ZOOM on weeknights from 6:30pm to 8:30 pm.

The term lasts 10 weeks. Please see the class descriptions below.

WINTER TERM 2025

  • START DATE: Week of January 27th, 2025

  • FINISH DATE: Week of April 1st, 2025

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Friday, January 17th, 2025.

The classes for adults are structured according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Lessons occur once a week for two hours on weeknights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Italian language skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening) are taught by qualified native-speaking teachers. 

A minimum class size of 10 students is required to make the learning environment interactive. If this number is not met, the school reserves the right to cancel classes and will offer a refund with no administration fee. The school reserves the right to change class schedules or amalgamate classes at its own discretion prior to the beginning of each term.

  • Description: This level is for students who have no or very little prior knowledge of Italian. The focus is on building foundational skills. Students will learn basic vocabulary (greetings, numbers, places, colors, nationalities, food), essential phrases (describing people, asking for directions, ordering at a coffee shop/restaurant), and simple grammatical structures (noun gender and number, articles, adjectives, present tense of basic regular verbs). Emphasis is placed on pronunciation, basic greetings, and introductory conversation skills. By the end of this level, students should be able to introduce themselves, ask and answer simple questions, and understand basic everyday expressions. 

    We offer one class: 

    Online (via Zoom) on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. 

    Fee: $185 per term (10 classes)

  • Description: This level is for students who have already started with our Absolute Beginner class and have no or very little prior knowledge of Italian. The focus is on continuing to build foundational skills. Students will learn basic vocabulary (greetings, numbers, places, colors, nationalities, food), essential phrases (describing people, asking for directions, ordering at a coffee shop/restaurant), and simple grammatical structures (noun gender and number, articles, adjectives, present tense of basic regular verbs). Emphasis is placed on pronunciation, basic greetings, and introductory conversation skills. By the end of this level, students should be able to introduce themselves, ask and answer simple questions, and understand basic everyday expressions. 

    We offer one classe: 

    Online (via Zoom) on Monday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. 

    Fee: $185 per term (10 classes)

  • Description: At this level, students build on the basics learned in Level 1. The curriculum introduces more vocabulary (family, pastimes and hobbies, weather, telling the time) and grammatical concepts (including present tense of irregular verbs and modal verbs, question words, and possessive adjectives), basic sentence structures, and simple prepositions. Students will practice forming questions and making statements about daily activities, personal interests, and familiar topics. Listening and speaking skills are further developed through structured practice and interactive exercises. 

    Online ONLY (via Zoom) on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  

    Fee: $185 per term (10 classes).  

  • Description: Intermediate students will expand their grammatical knowledge and vocabulary, focusing on past tenses (past perfect and imperfect), and more complex grammar structures (reflexive verbs, direct and indirect pronouns, articulated prepositions). They will learn to describe events, express opinions, and handle routine communication with greater ease. Reading comprehension and writing skills are introduced with simple texts and guided writing exercises. Conversation practice becomes more involved, allowing students to discuss a variety of topics in more detail.

    Online ONLY (via Zoom) on Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  

    Fee: $185 per term (10 classes).

  • Description: At this stage, students refine their language skills and delve into more nuanced aspects of Italian grammar, such as future tense, imperative and conditional moods, and double pronouns. Vocabulary expands to include idiomatic expressions and more specialized topics. Students engage in discussions on diverse subjects, including current events, culture, and personal experiences. Reading and writing activities involve more complex texts, and students are encouraged to express themselves more naturally and accurately. 

    Online ONLY (via Zoom) on Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  

    Fee: $185 per term (10 classes).

  • Description: At this stage, students refine their language skills, and Italian grammar uses are discussed and reviewed as they occur in conversation. Vocabulary expands to include idiomatic expressions and more specialized topics. Students engage in discussions on diverse subjects, including current events, culture, and personal experiences. Reading and writing activities involve more complex texts, and students are encouraged to express themselves more naturally and accurately.  

    Online (via Zoom) on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
